Helena Guedes is a Porto based DJ who’s been creating waves in her hometown with her diverse sets mixing jazz, soul, funk, boogie, disco and house. Starting out in her teens as a music lover and digger immersed in soul, funk, disco, latin jazz, hip-hop and Chicago and Detroit’s own distinctive sounds, through to the acid jazz and broken beat scenes emerging from the UK, Helena has been spreading good vibes at some of the more discerning venues and web radios in Porto and Lisbon and in a relatively short career has played alongside names such as Mr. Scruff, Dimitri from Paris, Theo Parrish, Moodymann, Masters at Work and Jayda G.Helena holds a monthly residency at club Alma in Porto where she’s been able to showcase her ability to rock a dance floor with her all-night sets and she’s often invited to play alongside guest DJ’s at some major venues in her hometown.2019 was a turning point for her, being invited to play outside Portugal and becoming acknowledged for her endless curiosity and passion about all things jazz, soul, boogie and disco. She’s currently hosting a residency show at the respected Portuguese web radio and cultural agitator Alinea A where she invites other emerging local DJ’s, vinyl collectors and music lovers.
